Importance of Guru Purnima Pooja
Gurus are being given paramount importance by the Hindus. Gurus are being treated equally to God and are being considered to be the link between individual and immortal. The full moon day in the month of Ashad (July-August) is considered to be the Guru Purnima day. Guru Purnima is considered to be the most auspicious day as it is being celebrated in the memory of the great sage Vyasa. Guru Vyasa wrote Mahabharata and Srimad Bhagavata and also taught Dattatreya who is considered to be the Guru of Gurus.

Puja being dedicated to a Guru is considered as doing Puja to God directly as Gurus are considered to be the direct representatives of God.
