Importance of Guru Purnima Puja
Gurus are being given paramount importance by the Hindus. Gurus are being treated equally to God and are being considered to be the link between individual and immortal. The full moon day in the month of Ashad (July-August) is considered to be the Guru Purnima day. Guru Purnima is considered to be the most auspicious day as it is being celebrated in the memory of the great sage Vyasa. Guru Vyasa wrote Mahabharata and Srimad Bhagavata and also taught Dattatreya who is considered to be the Guru of Gurus.

Significance of Guru Purnima Puja
Guru Vyasa is being worshipped by the devotees in honour of his divine personage with meditation, sacred songs, hymns and events. Puja being dedicated to a Guru is considered as doing Puja to God directly as Gurus are considered to be the direct representatives of God. Guru’s Puja in the evening is considered to be more sacred than doing Puja in the morning. Devotees are supposed to keep fast during the day of Puja. Guru Purnima Puja holds deep significance to farmers as it heralds the setting of rains. Spiritual lessons can be started on this holy day as it intensifies spiritual knowledge.
