Lord Narasimha is the fourth and the most powerful incarnation of Lord Vishnu among all of his ten avatars who emerged out of the pillar as half man and half Lion. Hiranyakashyapu who was a rival to Lord Vishnu was the father of Prahalad who was a devotee of Lord Vishnu. One day Hiranyakashyapu asked his son whether Vishnu was in the pillar and Prahalad said “Yes” so he broke the pillar and from the pillar Narasimha appeared and destroyed the evil Hiranyakashyapu. From this day the birth of Lord Narasimha is being celebrated. Lord Narasimha is celebrated on the fourteenth day of Vaishakha month. On this day prayers are offered in Lord Vishnu temple.
