Goddess Kushmanda is the fourth incarnation of Goddess Durga. During the nine days of Navratri Pujan, Goddess Kushmanda is worshipped on the fourth day with full devotion and respect. She is the creator of Universe and nurtures it. The word Kushmanda comprises of three words, which are KU, USHMA and ANDA. The word ‘KU’ refers to small or little, ‘USHMA’ is the energy or warmth and ‘ANDA’ refers to egg. She created the complete universe in the form of a small cosmic egg.
Devi Kushmanda has magnificent glow. The dignity and grace of the Goddess is incredible. She rides on a Lion and resides in the solar system. Goddess has eight hands, out of which seven are holding weapons and one hand holds rosary, which is the symbol of blessings to worshippers. Devi Kushmanda blesses the worshippers with eight Siddhi’s and nine Niddhi’s or in other words the eight divine excellence and nine holy treasures.
Just as if Sun illuminates and removes the darkness from the world, the divine spark of Goddess removes the evil and dark spirits from all corners of world. She gives a new ray of hope in the life of human beings. She bestows the devotees with brightness, clarity, peace, and prosperity. She has eternal gleam and illumination, which we see in all directions, is due to the divine sparkle of the Goddess.
On the fourth day of Navratri pujan the devotees enter the Anahat Chakra. It is believed that when there was no light in Universe and darkness ruled all the corners the slight smile of Devi Kushmanda illuminated the Universe and removed the darkness. She is the form of Adi Shakti Maa Durga.
It is important that worshippers perform the Kushmanda Pujan with pure heart and soul. She removes all mental and physical disorders. By worshipping her, the devotees get free from sufferings. The positive aura of Goddess gives wealth, health, and status in the society to the worshipper.
