Diwali-a festival of joy
Diwali is considered to be the most significant festival of India which is being celebrated every year by the people of India. During this festival, rich, poor, young and old, everybody come together to celebrate Diwali and the Hindu lords are worshipped here. The Goddess of wealth, Laxmi is worshipped across the country. History related to Diwali
In the north India, according to the Indian mythology, in the day of Diwali, Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after winning the war from demon Ravana who kidnapped lord Rama’s wife. Lord Rama was exiled for 14 years by his father. Ravana was a renowned and learned pundit but was a demon. After Rama returned Ajodhya, his people welcomed him by lighting the lamps and burning crackers. They celebrated this day with great joy. From that day onwards, Diwali is celebrated and is considered as the day to destroy darkness and spread light everywhere.
The purpose of Diwali Pujan
Mahalaxmi, the Goddess of glory, prosperity and wealth among the Hindus, is worshipped during this day. In every diwali, the Hindus perform Laxmi Pujan. It is their belief that the Goddess will visit their places which are clean and also decorated in a nice and beautiful way. Laxmi loves cleanliness and therefore, will surely have a look at the places. The earthen lamps are lighted in order to welcome the Goddess Laxmi in the houses. During the dark Amavasya night, Diwali is celebrated. The farmers believe that the Goddess likes green fields and therefore, walks through them. This way she showers plenty of blessings, wealth and prosperity to mankind. Diwali is a major festival for the people of west and North India.
