The third of Navratri festival is dedicated to Maa Chandraghanta, the third incarnation of Maa Durga. The third day of navratri is of great importance as the devotees get the peace of mind and witness the divine things.
When we talk about Devi Chandraghanta, she has ten hands and three eyes. Since the moon is bell shaped the Goddess is known by the name of Chandraghanta. She holds weapons in her eight hands and the other two hands are for giving blessings and stopping the evil forces from causing harm to the devotees. Devi Chandraghanta is golden in color, which gives her pleasant look. She rides a Lion and she has a roaring voice.
This day is of utmost importance and a divine atmosphere can be felt during this day. The devotees must take care of all the little things required in worshipping the Goddess Chandraghanta.
The rituals performed on the third day as similar to the rituals performed on the other days. In the beginning all the Gods and Goddess in all directions are worshipped. Following it, the Lord ganesha, Lakshmi and other deities are worshipped. In the end, the devotees worship the Maa Chandraghanta. The puja concludes by worshipping Lord Shiva and Lord Brahma.
The mantra recited during worshipping Maa Chandraghanta is as follows –
Ye devi Sarvabhooteshu Maa Chandraghanta Rupen Sansthita |
Namastasyai Namastasyai Namastasyai Namo Namah||
The mantra says, I join my hands in front of the Supreme Goddess and adore the Goddess of Strength. Forgive me for the sins I did in my life and bless me and my loved ones.

Om Aim Hreem Chandraghantay Namah
