This year the Holi will be celebrated on 5th March, 2015. The Holika Dahan will be celebrated on 5th March while the color Holi will be celebrated on 6th March, 2015. There are various names given to Holika Dahan like Chotti Holi or Holika Deepak. The Holika Dahan will be celebrated in the Pradosh Kaal while Purnimasi Tithi is prevailing. It is advised that during the Bhadra time all the good work should be avoided. According to some of the rules Holika Dahan Muhurat is decided.
The Holika Dahan should be started when the Bhadra period is over and the Purnima Tithi is prevailing. If during the Pradosh time the Bhadra prevails, it will end before the midnight therefore the Holika Dahan should be done after the period of Bhadra is over. If there is the situation that the Bhadra period is getting over after the midnight then only the Holika Dahan should be done in this period and preferably at the time of Bhadra Punchha. The period of Bhadra Mukha should be avoided because this period is not at all good for the auspicious occasion. If something good is done at Bhadra Mukha period then the bad luck is brought for the whole year and everything will go bad and will be ruined very early.
The right period for the Holika Dahan is very important than the period for other festivals because this affects the worldwide. The misfortune is being brought if the wrong time is chosen for the puja of the Holika Dahan. One should keep the timings in mind properly so that the auspicious things are happening on the right time. The sufferings will increase and you will not be able to reduce it. The Holi is considered to be the festival of colors and people visit to Braj regions where the Lord Krishna resides. On the color Holi people apply colors to each other and forget all their grudges from each other. This festival is generally loved by everyone because the colors are loved by anyone. People meet with each other and enjoy the delicious food at each other home.

The shubh Mahurat for the Holika Dahan is 18:19 to 20:48 and the duration is of 2 hours and 29 minutes. The tithi of Purnima will begin on 4th March 2015 at 20:57 and will end at 5th March at 23:35. The period of Bhadra Punchha is 05:36 to 06:56 and the period of Bhadra Mukha is 06:56 to 09:09.
