As the damsel knows the intention of Murdavana, she placed a condition in front of him that if he wants to marry her then it will require war with her. The demon proudly agrees to the condition of Damsel by thinking that it is very easy for him to win over her. But, in the war Damsel wins and killed the demon Murdanava. This event by damsel pleased the Lord Vishnu he was very happy knowing about it. Damsel got the boon by lord Vishnu that she would be known as Ekadashi and all the devotees of him keep fast on this very day and receives his blessings. After this the day is observed as Ekadashi.
