Celebrating Dussehra 2015: the Triumph of Good against Evil
In the year 2015, the festival of Dussehra will be celebrated with full fervent on the 22nd of October. The major attraction in India is celebration of Dushera festival in Mysore city.
Please note that the Vijay muhurat in the year 2015 will be for a period of 46 minutes i.e. from 13:49 to 14:36. On the other hand, Aparahna Puja muhurat will last for more amount of time i.e. from 13:03 till 15:23. It would be exactly for the period of 2 hours and 19 minutes.
The festival is celebrated symbolizing the famous victory of Lord Rama over Ravana. On the very occasion, the colossus statues of Ravana are burned in most of the parts of India. India is a country which is rich in terms of tradition, culture and heritage. It is arguably one of the most important festivals celebrated in our country.
Dussehra 2015: The origin of the term
If we talk from the viewpoint of the children then it is one of the festivals that they wait for the whole year. It is mainly because they find the opportunity to burn the wooden structure of the demon king. The term is originated from the Sanskrit language that means Dasha (ten) and Har (defeat). It symbolizes the triumph of good over evil on the 10th day of the Hindu calendar.

Dusshera festival is celebrated all over the India in some different ways and with different forms. In 2015 year, it will celebrate with same enthusiasm.
Dussehra follows the nine day Navratri festival especially in northern part of the India. On the tenth day which is considered as the Dussehra when Lord Rama killed Ravana and his death symbolizes the defeat of all evils.

People of Himachal Pradesh celebrate this festival with different way, here the festival starts on the ‘Vijyadashami’ and run for next seven days. As per the belief, the lord Raghunath was established by the King Jagat Singh as the idol and rule deity for the kingdom’s people. After that people has started to worship the Lord Raghunath and festival is called as ‘Kullu Dussehra”.
Natives of Gujarat state also celebrated this festival with great zeal. They perform their folk dance ‘Garba and Dandiya’. All the people show their happiness by performing Garba dance with their family and friends. Generally, these Garba dance is performed on the Krishna Bhagwan’s songs and the Goddess Durga’s songs. Dandiya dance form is performed by the dandiya sticks.

In south states such as Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh also celebrate with some different rituals. People exchange presents like sweets, clothes, they sing regional songs and perform the dance. People decorate their house with lamps and dolls. They start it on the first day of Navratri and on the ninth day they worship Maa Saraswati. On the tenth day they start the new beginnings for children in studies like music, education and dance.
In Mysore, the celebration held on grand level and the ancient palace is decorated as the new bride every year. People go there to see palace and visit the Chamundi temple which is popular all over the nation. Vijyadashami is celebrated with great enthusiasm.
