Diwali Puja 2017, Few Do’s and Dont’s
With the upcoming festival season everyone seems to be in the mood of enjoyment. Diwali marks the pujan of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha. According to Hindu mythology Hindu Goddess Laxmi, known as the wife of Lord Vishnu is worshipped this day for prosperity, wealth, happiness, beauty and good health of one’s family members. Goddess Lakshmi is considered ‘Chanchal’ or versatile and hence does not stay in one place all the time.
Keeping in mind the upcoming festival, here are few do’s and dont’s that one need to consider while one is trying to please Goddess Laxmi, the Goddess of wealth
|1. Goddess Laxmi prevails, in places where the people hold high virtue are honest and trustworthy.||1. One should abstain from lying or being unfaithful. Goddess Laksmi stays away from such families.|
|2. One needs to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in one’s house at all times.|
|2. Goddess of wealth unlike the common myth does not like loud noise therefore one should not indulge in bursting crackers thereby causing pollution.|
|3. One needs to maintain peace and calm in the family and avoid disputes.||3. While performing aarti the devotees should refrain from clapping instead should only use a small bell.|
|4. Since Goddess Laksmi she herself is the wife of Lord Vishnu, she does not like to reside in houses where due respect is not given to the women of the house, may it be mother, wife, daughter even maids, etc.||4. One should take ‘bhog’ or eat only after offering it to the Annapurna God or the God of food or the God of Fire.|
|5. Goddess Lakshmi adores houses where the inmates are disciplined. Therefore ,in order to please Goddess Lakshmi the family needs to get up on time, work properly, finish all the chores on time and then sleep on time.||5. One should never insult his/her elders to get blessings from Goddess Lakshmi.|
|6. The ones who are responsible for cooking in the house should never taste food while cooking.||6. One should never demean others or be cunning and cheat others.|
|7. The head of the family must perform morning and evening prayers with his/her family everyday.|
Friday, is considered as the day of Goddess Lakshmi, lot of devotees offer prayers to the goddess by observing fast and feeding the poor every Friday in order to receive Laksmi’s blessings. An ideal family should perform prayers every morning and every evening along with the whole family. The young ones should be taught the importance of respecting elders and being loyal towards the family. Goddess Laksmi bless those souls who believe in passing on the blessings to the needy ones. All in all the devotees should understand that merely by performing grand Puja on the auspicious day will not bring in the prosperity, it’s a slow process which requires lots of dedication from his/her side. One has to believe in good ‘Karma’ and the fact that whatever is given in the universe will come back to the person eventually.
